  • Bikes must be used responsibly and in accordance with Guernsey road traffic laws.
  • Bikes must only be used on suitable roads, cycle paths and tracks.
  • Bikes must not be ridden on beaches, cliff paths or unsuitable terrain.
  • Bikes must not be lent to anyone else without our permission.
  • Riders must be physically capable of riding an electric bicycle safely.

  • Do not attempt to repair or modify the battery, motor or electrical components.
  • Batteries and chargers must not be left exposed to rain or excessive moisture.
  • Batteries must not be left charging unattended or overnight.

4. Damage, Loss and Theft

  • Any accident, damage, loss or theft must be reported to Outdoor Guernsey as soon as possible.

  • Normal wear and tear and mechanical faults not caused by the hirer are excluded.
  • Lost or damaged batteries, chargers, locks, helmets or keys may be charged at their reasonable repair or replacement cost.

5. Security Deposits

A card pre-authorisation of up to £150 per bike may be required as security against damage or loss. No money is taken unless a charge becomes necessary.

This is discretionary and will be confirmed before the hire begins.

Where required, the deposit will normally be secured through a card pre-authorisation rather than taken as a payment.

The authorisation will be cancelled following the satisfactory return and inspection of the bicycle and equipment, allowing for normal wear and tear.

Any charges for damage or missing equipment will be explained to the hirer before payment is collected.

The hirer’s responsibilities under these terms apply whether or not a security deposit has been requested.

6. Breakdowns and Accidents

  • If a fault develops, stop using the bicycle and contact Outdoor Guernsey.
  • Do not attempt repairs to the motor, battery or electrical components.
  • Following an accident or significant impact, the bicycle must not be ridden again until Outdoor Guernsey has confirmed it is safe.
  • In an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency services before notifying us.

7. Return of Equipment

  • Bikes must be available for collection at the agreed date, time and location.
  • All equipment supplied must be returned, including batteries, battery keys, chargers, locks and helmets.
  • Any damage or missing equipment must be reported before collection.
  • Changes to collection arrangements must be agreed with Outdoor Guernsey in advance.
  • Additional charges may apply for late returns or missing equipment.

8. Handover and Acceptance

  • Outdoor Guernsey will demonstrate the bicycle’s controls, battery and charging arrangements at handover.
  • A handover sheet recording the condition of the bicycle and equipment will be completed.
  • Hirers confirm that they are competent cyclists and understand the instructions provided.
  • Hirers agree to follow these terms throughout the hire period.
